Local Food and Local Harvest

Welcome to Local Food and Local Harvest

NPSAS felt it was time to start gathering information for a Grower Directory. We will not sell the information. It will be put in the member database and on the website. Many times, the office gets a call looking for a specific item...from organic eggs to grassfed cattle. A search of the database will bring up all names with organic eggs listed in the designated "membership notes" box.

The goal is to facilitate consumers and producers in finding each other and developing relationships. Buying directly from family farmers keeps them in business. Please take a moment to fill out the form and send it in. Thank you.

NPSAS is committed to helping consumers and farmers make connections providing consumers with the freshest, highest quality food possible while giving farmers options in the marketplace. Local and regional food systems help sustain local economies, making our rural communities more viable. To read more about how purchasing local food can impact your community, visit Local Trade in the newsletter section of this site.

To facilitate consumers and producers in finding each other and developing relationships, NPSAS has developed a Farm Direct Directory of producers who market their products directly to consumers.

As a special feature for holiday seasons we have added a Local Harvest Holiday Feast page of menu ideas and recipes which include foods that you can purchase from farmers in our region. Visit our site as you plan for those special holiday feasts and remember to give thanks, through your support of the farmers who fill our tables with nature's abundance!

You can also find producers in your area by visiting the Local Harvest website.

Why Buy Locally Grown? Consumers worldwide are rediscovering the benefits of buying locally grown food.

It is fresher than anything in the supermarket and that means it is tastier and more nutritious. It is also good for the local economy--buying directly from family farmers helps them stay in business. Local Harvest
