SUMMARY:Farm Breeder Network
DESCRIPTION:The Farm Breeding Network (FBN) brings farmers\, chefs\, processors\, and eaters together to share knowledge and seed stock for seed saving\, crop breeding and fellowship. This NPSAS committee gives farmers the information and discussion group they need in order to participate as partners in public plant breeding and to take on their own breeding projects at home. This committee seeks to support public plant breeding and to revive a long tradition of seed saving and on farm breeding to ensure the availability of adapted and productive varieties. The FBN also seeks to maintain breeding and seed saving rights for farmers\, the original plant breeders. \nCommittee members determine FBN projects and goals. Farmers are connecting with one another and with researchers to actively improve\, save and share seeds. We are also linking with groups and individuals worldwide to build farmer-centric plant breeding and seed networks. \nThe zoom link for these meetings is sent via email each month to those interested in attending. SUMMARY:2027 Food and Farming Conference
DESCRIPTION:We are excited and looking forward to the 2027 Food and Sustainable Farming Conference at a new location in Watertown\, SD at the Watertown Event Center. As always\, we will have great speakers and engaging workshops ready too enlighten and reinvigorate producers for their ranch and farm’s upcoming growing season. \nA sought after part of the conference is the relationship building with the attentive group of vendors ready share the latest and greatest in soil health\, equipment\, and information on buyer contracts for the upcoming season. Our kids sessions are an engaging and fun part of the conference that truly make this a family event which is a unique feature of the NPSAS. \n \nThe kids sessions not only enable mom and dad to fully take in and really hear and participate in parts of the conference\, but also educate the participating kids in with hands-on learning about soil health\, nutrition\, animal husbandry\, and all things farming\, ranching\, and gardening.  Our goal is to enhance the awe and wonder of farm life in a fun and engaging way. \nJoin us for the 2027 event where you can network with other producers and like-minded individuals from around the region\, gain knowledge and inspiration\, and remind yourself why you do what you do.
