Heinz Family Farm Field Day

Join us for an engaging and practical field day focused on transitioning to organic pasture and beef production.  We’ll explore the journey to organic ranching with the Heinz Family Ranch owners in Onaka, SD.  Theses experienced cattleman manage the family ranch raising red simmintal/angus cross cattle and are in the process of transitioning the family’s organic beef calves to USDA organic certification. 

This event will highlight certification challenges to management, feed sourcing, recordkeeping, and navigating the complex organic beef market. The Heinz family will share the steps his operation have taken and plan to take, as well as they why behind the reasons they are transitioning.
